ABOUT

Who I am

I am a 10 year old with a dream.  Oh yeah, I also have Tourette Syndrome and Asperger Syndrome.

Why I do this

I have friends with many different abilities.  I keep being told that I have to change.  They keep being told that they need to change.   Why can't the world accept who I am and who my friends are as they are?  My mom says awareness is great, but that we need acceptance more.  My abilities allow me to see the world in a different light than most do. Nobody is the same, everyone is different. I met Paul Rudd at Christmas.  He took the time to give me a chance to feel accepted.  He said he had a friend with Tourette Syndrome.  He understood me.  I didn't have to be someone other than myself.  He and his wife were really nice.  His wife showed my mom some cool sensory stuff that I use. I do this because I have seen what if feels like to be accepted as I am and everyone deserves that.

What I can do with you

With your help I can change someone's life.  I am talking at schools and educating others on what it's like to have different abilities.  We aren't all that different in the end.  My goal is to speak to one group a month and donate 10 weighted lap pads that I have made every month.  I will be making a tutorial on how to make these pads so that others can make them too.  10 lap pads costs me less than $50 to make.  It costs $35-75 for one online.  Some families cannot afford food or a home let alone a lap pad.   A weighted lap pad would have been helpful to me in school when I was younger, and yes, I use one now.  I am working on becoming a non-profit so people can help me reach my goals and hopefully set up similar goals all over the country.

What weighted lap pads can do:

For many children and families a weighted lap pad can help a child who...

-can't get to sleep and stay asleep finally get the good night sleep that they need.

-can't sit still and focus in class finally be able to complete lessons and feel accomplished.

-is constantly touching things and people can perhaps be able to stop.

-cannot transition from one activity to the next be able to do so without distress.

-has anxiety from sensory overload feel calm.

A weighted lap pad can change a life!
